About

Samuel Matthis is a pen name. Behind it is a German writer who runs a business, prays every day, and writes about prayer.

He grew up in a Catholic village in western Germany, with a Protestant village next door. He was Catholic until his confirmation, then spent years in a Pentecostal free church, then years as an atheist, before he came back to faith. He is not a pastor and not a scholar. These days he goes to Catholic, Protestant and evangelical services, because he appreciates the different ways people try to reach God.

His first book, Words Given, is a meditation on the Lord's Prayer in forty days and six Sundays.

Everything on this page is true. Only the name is chosen. Why a pen name.
